Is Marbella a good holiday destination

Is Marbella a good holiday destination?

Is Marbella a good holiday destination? We think so. We love this coastline and inland mountains, history and culture. There is an endless list of what makes Marbella a great choice for all ages but here’s some food for thought to start with!

Range of accommodation

Don’t be limited to high rise hotels or holiday parks, although there are plenty of those to choose from if that’s what you’re looking for.  If you’re looking for more of a ‘home from home’ form of accommodation there are villas of all sizes, or a slice of luxury in a top end millionaire’s exclusive villa. There are glamping sites for those that want something more rustic and everything in between. Wonderful rural retreats with stunning views. In forests, mountains, by the beach…. take your pick. For every type of budget from 6 star hotels for 10,000 euros a night to old campervan accomodation by the beach for 20 euros.

The beaches

Marbella stretches east to west and boasts over 30km of beach so there are absolutely loads to choose from. Whether you’re looking for something quiet and sheltered, or busy with opportunities for people watching, there’s something for absolutely everyone.  In addition, there’s a wide range of water sports available if you’re looking for something a bit faster paced.  Water kiting, sailing, scuba diving and kayaking are all on the menu as well as the boat trips where you can go dolphin spotting.

The golf

Marbella is famous for it’s impressive range of golf courses, giving it the nick name of ‘Costa de Golf’.  La Quinta golf course is just one of many in the ‘Golf Valley’ with 27 holes broken down into 9 hole courses.  If you’re a golf fan and still asking is Marbella a good holiday destination, you only need to research some of the courses available in the area.

Something for the whole family

If you’re bringing your kids, there might be days when a day at the beach or at the pool don’t quite cut it.  And golf isn’t for every kid!  There are a number of days out available including zoos, wildlife parks, adventure parks including trampolining and ‘go ape’ style environments, water parks and more.  If you’re looking for a holiday destination that you’ll like, but that isn’t going to bore the kids, Marbella is an excellent choice.

The entertainment

If you’re going in a group and are looking for more of a party holiday than a family holiday, Marbella and Puerto Banús, with the ‘golden mile’ in between, is a great destination. There are loads of night clubs, concerts and live music, restaurants and bars to meet every day.

The nature

People don’t often think of Marbella and nature in the same breath. But the surrounding countryside is spectacular. You can hike, mountain bike, horse ride, mud buggy, kayak, raft, climb, abseil, dive, canyon, sail and do so much on land and sea. Head inland for fantastic walks to hidden rock pools and lakes, mountain bike on 100s of km of trails and tracks, up and downhill. Learn a new sport like kite surfing. Or just walk and enjoy the views, the birds of prey, wild goats and deer and vast expanses of openness. Join a yoga retreat, drumming circle, fitness bootcamp on the beach and much more.

So is Marbella a good holiday destination? Absolutely. Much more than good. We aren’t even scratching the surface.
