Marbella what to do
Located on Costa del Sol, in the stunning Andalusia, Marbella is one of the leading places to go in Spain, alongside Ibiza and Mallorca, and the famous cities of Madrid and Barcelona. But when you get to Marbella what to do and what to see?
We would start in Puerto Banus which is known as a playground for the rich and famous, with high end shops such as Hermes, Chopard, and Roberto Cavalli and a range of expensive looking cars and yachts at the marine. Having said that it is also a great place for those with lower budgets. The marina is amazing for looking at all the boats, there are a number of stunning beaches and when the sun goes down there is a massive nightlife there, including clubs, live music, restaurants, bars and even pubs.
If you’re looking for something a bit more historic and peaceful, Marbella Old Town, also know as Casco Antiguo, is a lovely place to spend a day. Spanning the ‘Orange Square’ (Plaza de los Naranjos) this charming area has narrow streets surrounded by white buildings with flower covered balconies. The shopping is a bit more sedate with stylish boutiques with unique offerings. The entertainment is also more authentic, with traditional restaurants under the orange trees, cafes and bars. It’s a great place for a relaxed meal of tapas or a genuine sangria.
Surprisingly, when you go to Marbella you don’t just have to stay in Spain. You can pop across to a whole different continent with a day trip to Morocco, sailing the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
The trip will take you to the North African city of Tangier, one of the oldest cities in Morocco. You can take a guided tour and try a traditional meal, wander the souks (markets) and get a feel for Moroccan life and a taste of North Africa. There are not many places that offer so many sides of a holiday.
Naturally there are the amazing beaches, the activities for kids and of course, the golf! But a holiday to Marbella is very much a holiday with a number of different options when it comes to how to spend your days.
