Marbella Tourism record

Marbella tourism record

The month of May was a huge one for Marbella, surpassing all previous tourism records.

When the latest tourism statistics were released yesterday on June 24th the showed that the famous city experienced an unprecedented surge in visitors during May. In the hotel sector the occupancy rate was 75.89% with more than 300,000 overnight stays.

The upward trend and figures further support the destination’s reputation for excellence in tourism. The area is renowned for attracting visitors with greater purchasing power, who opt for longer and more luxurious stays.

In May alone, Marbella welcomed an impressive 73,479 guests, including 60,909 international travellers and 12,570 domestic tourists.

One new trend is in the number of French tourists which has doubled compared to 2019, a year that was hailed as the industry’s golden year prior to the pandemic.

Marbella is hailed as a global hotspot for leisure and luxury tourism.

Luxury Villas Marbella

In our experience at Luxury Villas Marbella, the season of 2023 has been the busiest in 10 years. And to get the best properties our clients are having to book much more in advance. Already many of the larger and luxury villas in our portfolio have sold out for May and June weekends 2024 and summer 2024 is filling up quickly.

Within the smaller villa sector, 4-6 bedrooms, which is “staple stock” in the villa market, there is still plenty of 2024 availability. However for the most luxury and larger properties, the timeline between booking and arrival date increases every year. One Marbella wedding / events villa venue we work with is already over 90% booked for 2024 season and over 50% booked for 2025.
