COVID-19 update from Luxury Villas Marbella

COVID-19 update

Many people are asking us how the Coronavirus pandemic affects their travel and villa rental with Luxury Villas Marbella, so we want to provide a COVID-19 update. This is an evolving and constantly changing situation so please check with us for your specific case.

Spain entered a Government enforced State of Alarm and lockdown, with borders closed, on March 15th.

Since then it is not possible for guests to travel to Spain or villa owners to rent out their villas whilst this extraordinary order is in place.

All our contracts are issued between the villa owner and the client direct and all payments made between the two parties. Each villa has their own specific rental contract and cancellation terms.

Whilst we are able to try to influence the actions and decisions of villa owners we are not able to dictate or change contracts.

We are however extremely impressed with all the villa owners who have tried to do their best to help clients outside of the terms on the contract, which usually stipulate in most cases non refundable deposits.

In many cases there has been an offer which the client has accepted to transfer the booking dates to later in 2020 or even into 2021. Whilst this means that income for the owners for 2020 and 2021 are heavily impacted, it is an offer that most of our clients have found very acceptable.

For some this has not proven possible and most of the owners have been amenable to refunds during the time of the lockdown. However for clients that wish to cancel their holidays that are booked for dates much further in advance and likely to be way beyond the lifting of travel restrictions, the owners may decide that that falls under the normal terms of client cancellation and therefore refunds or date transfers are not appropriate.

Again, the villa owners are doing their best to communicate effectively and offer solutions that are mutually beneficial to all.

We are pleased that they have been very proactive during this whole crisis and have received excellent feedback from our clients.

It is a challenging time for all. Villa owners are already implementing changes to their cleaning regimes, staff operations and systems at their villas in order to stay compliant with the latest directives from the Andalucian government.

As and when we have a further COVID-19 update we will post it for you. But please do get in touch with your specific questions. Every case is unique and we are working through each on an individual basis to try to reach the best outcome possible for all our partners, owners and guests.

In the meantime we wish everyone well, to stay safe and stay indoors and look after your loved ones.
